The Hong Kong Institute of Education for Sustainable Development (HiESD) aims to establish a lifelong learning system for sustainable development in Hong Kong, Mainland China, and around the world. It is an interdisciplinary, research-based, and innovation-driven institute that supports organizations, businesses, and individuals in their pursuit of sustainable development. Since 2003, HiESD has been committed to promoting the United Nations’ Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) agenda through forward-looking research, standard-setting, and the advancement of quality education.
HiESD is a partner-expert and service provider of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) (IRD Ref. No. 12958), a partner-expert of the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UNDESA) (Registration No. 26908), and a member of the UN Sustainable Development Solutions Network (UNSDSN). It is also a member institution of the World Federation of UNESCO Clubs and Associations, the founding association and secretariat of the Hong Kong Association for UNESCO, the host of the UN75 Dialogues, and the co-organizer of a thematic side event at the China Pavilion of the 29th United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP29).
